For more than two centuries, no figure has been more synonymous with opulence than Marie Antoinette, the fashionable French queen whose love of all things extravagant earned her notoriety in her time. From 22nd September, Manolo Blahnik invites visitors to our Mayfair destination to revive her legacy of luxury in spectacular fashion as Burlington Arcade transforms into Le Palais du Burlington.

The historic takeover coincides with Manolo Blahnik’s exclusive sponsorship of Marie Antoinette Style at V&A South Kensington and the launch of the Marie Antoinette-inspired limited-edition capsule collection, now available online and in-store.

Le Palais du Burlington brings the splendour of Versailles to the ‘Jewel of Mayfair’ with glistening chandeliers and hand-drawn illustrations, creating a theatrical and immersive celebration of artistry, heritage and beauty. Designed by Blahnik himself, a dramatic 180-yard carpet unfurls across the full length of the arcade, adorned with hand-drawn rosebud motifs.

Suspended overhead, 21 crystal chandeliers cast dazzling lighting that shifts throughout the day, transitioning from morning brilliance to evening glow. Together, they illuminate 84 hand-rendered illustrations of the capsule shoe designs, presented in sculptural clusters, inviting visitors to venture deeper into a meticulously crafted world of regal extravagance.

Running for six weeks at Burlington Arcade, the installation sweeps through the space with a sense of theatrical 18th-century grandeur. To mark the momentous occasion, friends of the house gathered for a private dinner hosted by Manolo and Kristina Blahnik, immersed in the grandeur of the installation.
